Software, on a broader perspective, refers to any electronic media content. The term computer software is a term used to refer to computer programs, procedures, and documentation that perform specific tasks on a computer system.
For more details go to: www.pure-profit-software.com This term is also used to describe application software or productivity software, system software such as computer operating systems, and middleware – software that manages and coordinates distributed systems.

Computer software is may be viewed as the language of computers. There is a wide variety of software available and these are categorized into three different types: system software, application software, and programming software.

System software runs the computer system including all the hardware devices contained within the system. This software is used by the computer to interpret input from external sources into something a machine can understand. Software works with the computer’s hardware components and includes the computer’s operating system, diagnostic tools, device drivers, utilities and more. One may automatically think of computer operating systems when the words software system is mentioned – operating systems run the computer. The most popular operating systems today are those manufactured by Microsoft. Other competing operating systems are open source OS such as Linux and UNIX.

Tips for buying a desktop computer as a gift

What do you need to know before you buy a desktop computer as a gift? You need to know what kind of person that the other person is. You don’t want to give a super computer to someone that is not going to use all the potential the computer has, and if you give a bad computer to some one that plans to use the computer to play computer games, the person will not do that much with the computer.

A person that wants a computer just to play games will not need a very big hard disk and you should else invest in a very good graphic card that will make the games much more smooth.

If the computer is going to be used to work then it makes no sense to add a good graphic card to it, does it not? What if the computer is just to surf the internet? You are not going to need a graphic card too and you will need a very fast CPU.

This is the best a computer can get.

Now what if the computer is going to be used for video edition? Then you are going to need a super fast CPU, probably one (more…)

What computer manufacturers dont want you to know

Buying a new computer does not have to be as scary and costly a step as some make of it. There are some major things computer manafacturers do not want you to know, though. If you do some research before making your purchase you can make a wiser decision in which brand to buy, the components it has, and get a better deal. The first step is to do enough research and take into consideration your intended use of the new computer to determine your computer requirements. Write these required specifications down.

Bear in mind that no matter the brand you purchase, even the fastest computer on the market today will be outdated within two years. This is due to a highly competitive market and constant improvements being made to computers. It is not uncommon for a company to produce a more powerful computer that zips along at a higher speed annually. If you are going to run a lot of software programs on your computer or install high tech video games an outdated computer can ruin your program and game performance. Software and video game manufacturers are just as competitive and (more…)

The life expectancy of a personal computer

Every year around the time of the holidays, stores push computers, touting the latest and greatest to consumers. While some users may need high performance computers with loads of memory and storage, but most users don’t need the latest product off the shelf.

The life of a computer, then, varies greatly depending on your personal use. More computers today are obsolete because of the operating system they are running, not because of the computer hardware. Linux users frequently seek out Pentium II and Pentium III computers for their projects because the computers still run fairly efficiently, they just do not run Windows XP efficiently. These computers came out with Windows 95, 98 or NT, operating systems that Microsoft no longer supports and that cannot run most of the modern software.

Besides laptops, there are basically small form factor computers and computer towers. Of the three, towers are the most upgradeable, laptops are the least. Small form factor computers fall slightly in between.

The reason for this is upgradeability. While video cards, graphics cards, and hard drives can be added into a computer, many small form factor computers do not have enough room in the case to allow for hardware upgrades. A tower can (more…)

Handy Guide for Buying your First Computer

Imagine yourself at an electronics store. You walk over to the computer section; filled with several different brands of computers. You begin to ask yourself questions. Should I get a laptop or a desktop? Do I want a PC (Personal Computer) or a MAC (Macintosh). Do I need a lot of memory? Panic begins to build and you ask yourself, “Okay, now what?”

The first step in buying your first computer is deciding what exactly it is you need from your computer. How do you determine what it is that you need? Try following these steps:

Step one, find out what type of user you are by finding what it is you plan on doing with your computer.

Let’s say that you are a gamer. You would need a computer that has a faster CPU (Central Processing Unit). The higher the number, the faster it can think and get things done. Your computer would also require a large amount of RAM (Random Access Memory). RAM is moment to moment memory factory installed on and constantly used by your computer. Again, (more…)

Why computers are frustrating – Part 1

Computers can be really frustrating at times and we might even feel like breaking down the computer. But computers are not humans; they are machines which work the way you want them do.

Computers are frustrating because you don’t treat them nicely. Yes, I said they are machines, but you need to treat machines nicely if you don’t want to be frustrated. A car requires oil, a carpet requires cleaning, and similarly computer requires care and removal of viruses. You should use anti-spyware software, anti-viruses and regulary check the computer and take good care of it.

Make sure you also clean the computer fan located behind the CPU. If dirt clogs into this area, your computer can become paralysed and painfully slow. Make sure you take good care of the computer to make your experience less frustrating.

Computers can be frustrating because they cannot work beyond of what is given to them. If you use dial-up and expect the same speed of Internet as a cable connection, then you will get frustrated because of high and unrealistic expectations. You make things slow for the computer, and the computer makes it frustrating for you. Not all the people in the world get frustrated with (more…)

Best online stores for cheap computer hardware – Part 7

As I’ve read in a previous article from someone, www.NewEgg.com is clearly the best website to purchase computer parts for cheap, and very reliable service, as in if you get your part and its broken, you can return it and they’ll send you another one until one works. This happened to my friend, and they even upgraded him to a better part since the one he ordered didn’t work properly after 3 times.

Lets compare some sites to www.NewEgg.com:

On the 750gb Seagate Barracuda HDD

-Geeks.com: $379.99

-Best Buy: $389.21

-PCConnection: $414.78

-Computer Giants: $437.87

-Buy.com: $388.97

-Business HP: $502.62(wow)

-NewEgg.com: $309.99 (And with free 3 day shipping to the 48 states)

Another product:

GeForce 6800XT 256mb Video Card

-Circuit City: $145.45

-Buy.com: $134.68

-Dell: $160.55

-Mwave.com: $138.14

-TheNerds.net: $148.79

-NewEgg.com: $124.99

As you can tell newegg.com pretty much demolishes others prices. You can go and buy a pre-made computer for $2,000 from some company claiming thats what it actually cost, or you can go to NewEgg.com and honestly buy a top of the line computer, just by buying it part for part. My friend spent $2,000 and bought a computer that would normally cost around $6,000 in a store.

Computer operators and their role in business

With the vast majority of businesses being automated, computer operators are imperative to their success. Computer operators input data, take orders, make orders and address so many needs that companies have. The size of a company and the business or service it provides and it generates generally determine how many computer operators are needed.

Smaller companies can usually survive with one to a few multi-taskers. Other companies require more and some companies require thousands to keep the business running. Computer operators handle phone calls via computer, provide support, input data, keep track of records and provide the company with automation and more efficient work productivity. Because information is stored in computers, it has reduced time spent organizing and created an opportunity for employees to focus on customers and generate more business.

As progress rapidly evolves and develops to a digital, computer run world, computer operators are becoming in greater demand. Not just operators to run the business, but computer operators to provide support for the equipment and software that was used. Computer operators have to write the software programs and computer operators to upgrade and develop new and better equipment. And computer operators to fix, install and repair them. Then, who is (more…)

Why its recommended to shut down the computer

After using the computer you should always power it down.

The reasons are many. The first one is that you will save the planet and your pocket. Computers today can use as much as 900W of power and this means a big electricity bill at the end of the month. How can you keep this from happening to you? Turn the computer down if you plan to let it untouched for more than half an hour.

The second reason is that the computer needs to reboot itself to work back again at peak performance. Most Windows computers are not able to stay more than a day working without reboot. Microsoft is not good wnough to make such operating system. O usually reboot my computer three times per day…

How many times should you reboot? Once every eigth hours…

The biggest reason however is your computer will be infected by virus if you just let it conencted to the internet. All computers that are on and connected are prone to get virus. this means that if you shut your computer down, the chances of getting something bad are greatly reduced to the minimum.

When you shut your computer down you allow the processor and all other (more…)

What to do if your computer is running slow – Part 1

Computer sometimes slows down after running continously or due to the multi-tasking.Sometimes there are also other reasons for the computer to slow down.During this time it is very annoying to the user and some simple steps can restore normal functions.

Disk Defragmentation:

Defragmentation of hard disk is one of the simplest steps we can carry out weekly, it just involves defragmenting the hard disk that is just clogging of data in the hard disk in the right order. This ensures that the computer can access the data much easily and at the same time avoid the loss of time searching for data. This naturally increases the performance of the computer to a greater extent.

Problems with virus:

Virus present in the computer can cause our computer to crash and at the same time they are also cause problems to the windows files. Proper anti-virus software should be installed in the system to avoid any further problem in the computer and at the same time regularly updating the anti virus is also important to prevent viruses from making our computer crash. Virus can be detected and deleted automatically or they can be quarantine.

Problems with the adwares and spyware:

Basically spyware is a piece of software that (more…)
