Computer hardware is all the things you can see and touch such as the monitor, the mouse, the keyboard and the computer box. The motherboard is the computer main component and it’s where all the components are connected to. It’s the biggest piece of hardware you see everytime you open your computer. Most of the times the motherboard is green but sometimes it can be blue, red, yelloe, black, purple and pink. Yep, marketeers are very creative. Next we got the processor. This is where all the information is processed. When you press a key on your keyboard it sends a signal to the processor and the processor makes the right character appear on the screen. Now almost all processors sold have more than one processor in the same chip. The latest ones have up to four processors. WOW! That makes computers 4 times faster and also generate a lot of heat too. The latest fans are so big the one day I think our computers can replace air turbines in an emmergency. We can never know. Tech is evolving too fast. LOL. Now let’s check the RAM. This piece of hardware is one the tool the processor uses to (more…)

Letting my engine breathe
Proper care of a car’s engine should be observed if you want your car to last long. A lot of people have this misconception that taking care of one’s car engine only entails picking the right gasoline for it. No, to really take care of one’s car engine, you have to look into the other details that may appear unnecessary at first. Like many, I had this misconception that only the weekly washes and gasoline splurging (I consider it splurging because of its crazy-high price!) would be enough to ensure that care and love is given to my car. I was shocked however when I found out, after I had my car assessed for emitting this strange sound, that my car’s air filters were too dirty, causing a bit of damage to my car’s engine. It was only then when I learned that one has to look it the other components of the car’s engines to ensure its maximum performance. Good thing for me, I had this modicum amount of obsession for my car. So even though I overlooked the fact that my car’s air filters had to be me replaced, it was not too late to do so.

How to upgrade the RAM on your computer
How to install RAM: Installing more RAM (Random Access Memory) on your computer will help your computer run faster. Of course with installing RAM you will have to open up your computer, and with anything electrical you will need to take caution. Installing RAM does not necessarily mean that your computer will run faster and usually if you have already added RAM or memory to your computer it can even slow your computer performance down.
Unless you have an old computer you will need to install DIMM (Dual In-Line Memory Module). When installing any new computer component you should always check with the computer manual.
You are going to need a Phillips screwdriver, the RAM, and the computer you are installing the RAM into.
First, you need to make sure that you and your computer are safe so you will need to turn off your computer and unplug it. Now you can open up your computer, it’s different with every computer but is very simple. You will need to be very careful of static electricity while working with your computer, building up a charge can short out part of your computer. You can (more…)
Introduction to computer hardware – Part 10
well the best way to learn about computers (hardware) is to just have a look-see inside one. but don’t take anything out yet. unless it doesn’t work or you don’t care. but before you touch anything unplug it. on the back of the power supply there is a switch, turn it off. (the power supply is that big fan on the back of your tower with the power cable sticking out of it)
now that you’ve seen the inside of it I’ll tell you all the basic parts in there. but sense I can’t insert pictures on helium then I’ll have to describe what’s what the best I can.
motherboard. the motherboard is that huge chip that everything is plugged into. or electronic holding area.
processor. the processor is the thing with the fan on top of it on the motherboard. it should be sticking up about three inches.
graphics card. the graphics card is the chip that you plug your monitor into. if you look at the back you’ll see a blue slot where you plugged your monitor into. fallow it into the tower and it (more…)

Increase Computer Security with Biometrics
Computer security is high on the list of priorities for most people today. Because computers have recently become very mobile, there is a very distinct danger that the personal data that a person keeps in their mobile computer can very well end up in the hands of the wrong kind of people.
There has been a lot of technology focused on providing the necessary security features in computers so that the data that is stored in them is kept safe. However, there is always one thing that typically undermines whatever security feature has been implemented on the computer. A personal computer or laptop is principally a private piece of property. As such, while the data that is stored in it is also very personal, the person using the computer is often prone to disregarding whatever security protocol is used to protect the data and computer. This is simply because he or she is assuming that the computer will remain personal and safe from other hands.
Unfortunately, time and again, that belief has been proven false, which is why computer security needs to be developed around the idea of security being second nature to the user. (more…)

Do You Know How To Get The Right Computer Software?
Computer software is a vast term used to describe a collection of computer programs, procedures and documentation that all perform tasks on a computer system. Computer software is the applications that we use on our computers such as office programmers and even windows it. Computer software is any programmer that we load onto and install on our computers.
Computer software is usually brought in CD format and is then installed onto our computers from this. Any new programs etc that you buy for your computer can be classed as a form of software. You can log on www.pure-profit-software.com Without software you wouldn’t get very far with the use of your computer. For more details go to .When software is placed or opened on your computer it is loaded into the RAM and executed through the central processing unit (CPU) it is then available for you to use.
Software comes in three main types, the first being system software. This helps to run your computer hardware as well as your computer system. The second is programming software. This provides tools to assist programmers in writing computer programs, such as text editors, compliers, interpreters and linkers. The last form (more…)

Thoughts about computer availability in schools
What I remember most about school was my grade school principal. He was my knight in shining armour. When my piano teacher recommended that I drop piano lessons because we didn’t have a piano at home, he called me into his office. You can use the piano in the library anytime you want, he said.
How many students have computers at home. They can use the computer in a computer class whenever they sign up for the class. A computer is like a piano. You need to take lessons to learn the keys and the proper sequence of notes to play a song. Otherwise all you are doing is banging away at a keyboard and imagining yourself a player. You are also hurting the piano’s fine tuning and possibly destroying its chords. My principal let me use the piano in the library because he knew that I had taken lessons and that I was qualified to practice on a piano. When a student has taken lessons in computers and becomes qualified in using one, then he can use a computer at school in the library.

Diagnosing Computer Hardware Faults
When your PC goes wrong and you have lost all hope the normal final stage is to reformat your computer and start afresh. This will most likely resolve any software issues, remove viruses or any other nasties and give you a clean start. But what happens if you have already reformatted and the problem still exists?
This means, most likely, you have a hardware fault. This is where problems can start.
Diagnosing a computer hardware fault can be a right pain as any of the computer components could the cause. Unless you are intending to replace the entire machine you need to carefully diagnose with what components the fault lies with.
I would advise you look at the computer into these main areas to analyse.
Memory / RAM
Power Supply
Hard Disk
Motherboard
This isn’t a complete definitive list, obviously depending on your issue ie if your issue is that you don’t get sound then it could be a sound card issue, similarly if you don’t get a display then graphics could be the culprit. If it is a random fault then either of the above could be the cause.

Keeping up with the latest developments in computer software – Part 2
The best way to find out about the latest software updates is to have someone tell you! OK… and how is that going to happen? It’s easier than you think!
To receive regular information about available software and the latest developments, simply subscribe to any of the FREE email updates that are available through a multitude of websites and on-line organisations.
One which I can recommend is CNET. There are others out there but for providing information about relevant software developments, I have found it to be well worth the once off effort(It isn’t really an effort but how else to word it?) of typing my email address into the subscribe box. Hey presto… people telling you stuff about software and technology. Pretty cool don’t you think?
This is a free and easy way to receive information about software and hardware developments and it will save you loads of time rather than having to filter through pages of search engine hits.
Introduction to computer hardware – Part 8
Computer hardware refers to the physical side of system resources. Usually, it relates to internal devices and not peripherals like printers, scanners and visual display unit. There is some typical hardware that you will likely find with a standard PC.
CPU:
Standing for central processing unit, the CPU is often referenced hardware. It is a chip on the motherboard that does most of the processing, and has a clock speed measured in GHz or MHz. Faster processors are better.
RAM:
RAM stands for Random Access Memory. This is another common bit of hardware, listed with specifications. Really it is short term storage for software, and now is often measured in Ghz. RAM modules can be removed, and added to increase the RAM available.
Hard Disk:
The hard disk is the long term storage unit. It is used to install and store software on. All hard disks will have gigabytes of storage available, of variable numbers.
Graphics Card:
The graphics card is an important replaceable bit of hardware. This handles the pc graphics, and there are a few different types of card. (more…)
