Where to find all the latest info on computer software

Finding the lastest info on computer software can mean many things. If you know exactly what you are looking for, then a simple search on Google will quickly point you in the right direction.

If you just want to know about the latest news like what is coming soon or what is out there in the world today, I would highly recommend checking out DownloadSquad.com. They always have interesting programs to download or software to check out.

But with thousands and thousands of computer software, it can sometimes be difficult finding the best one or the right one for you. In that case, I look for reviews or feedback on that specific software. Sometimes the most popular software is best, in that case, you can go to Majorgeeks.com or Cnet.com and sort the results by popularity. But if you are looking more for a side by side comparison of various products in a certain category, check out TopTenReviews.com. They have a wide variety of categories that rate software so you know what is good and what is not good.

How to identify the computer geek in the office

The computer geek.

Have you ever heard of this name before? It’s the name that people that know nothing about computer give to people that do really know about computers. Such kind of person is generally a true computer savvy and probably with some respectable hacking skills plus something else that is too complicated to try to explain to a non computer geek.

How can you find one?

Myth One: The computer geek wears huge glasses! Almost all the time the true computer geeks wears big glasses so he can protect his own eyes while he is working. Go to an office and see the ones that have the biggest glasses you have ever seen. They are probably your man. However there are some respectable exceptions to this rule. Sometimes a person can wear glasses because she has some kind of eye birth defect or the computer geek can wear no glasses at all.

Myth Number Two: The computer geek is always attached to a computer. This is both true and false. I know some computer geeks that hate computers. They dispise them, they even wished that computers disepeared from the earth. Such people are tech savvy but in spite of being so they (more…)

Introduction to computer hardware – Part 4

Computer hardware is all the things you can see inside your computer and all the things you can touch. Unlike software that you cannot see or touch. You can compare the software to your thoughts and hardware to your brain. This is the best comparison I can give you.

Computer hardware is too much to be described here so I will give you just the essentials and the most important hardware. The first and most well known one is the CPU, and all your computer components need this thing sure they need, it’s this thing that controls all the components! There are two main processor manufacturers, Intel and AMD. Each one has hundreds of models and speeds, so if you are going for one make sure you check on any website before you make your final and decisive decision.

The second most important hardware component in your computer is the motherboard. This is the place where all other things are inserted. It also controls some of your computer with the Chipset and with the BIOS. This is probably more important than the processor itself because it’s the thing that makes possible to add more features to the computer with the slots it (more…)

Why adding RAM makes a computer faster

RAM stands for Random Access Memory.

Add more RAM for a faster computer.

In its simplest terms RAM is the working memory of your computer. It is like your brain’s short term memory. As your computer runs various tasks and processes, this RAM memory begins to fill up. This ‘now’ memory allows your computer to quickly and easily do multiple tasks while bringing the data you need quickly to you.

Of course like our own STM(short term memories) our computer’s RAM can only hold so much at a time. Keep in mind that many programs and processes may be running on your computer without you being actively aware and each of these programs utilizes a small portion of RAM to run.

So adding more RAM to your computer essentially means your computer has an increased short term memory and more processes and programs can use the ‘now’ memory to carry out your computer based activities. More RAM to you means your computer programs will run smoother, you can access information quicker and do more at once without your computer slowing down, freezing up, or crashing.

By adding RAM you are in a way increasing your computer’s speed and abilities by allowing more tasks to be (more…)

How computers benefit society

Computers have benefited society in a myriad of ways.

At first, decades ago, those geniuses who invented

and modified the original computers had something

extremely intriguing and very constructive to do

with their considerable talents. Man had been

creating machines that were vaguely similar to

computers for a long time but tabulating machines

used during the 1890 census brought man and society

closer to the computer age. The incredible company that

manufactured those clever creatures later became IBM.

The first modern computer was born in Germany in 1941.

That creation truly began the Era of Computers. As

time passed by, computers slithered into all aspects

of society.

Computers, for the moderately wealthy and wealthy,

became status symbols. Back in 1984, my ex-boyfriend

proudly showed me his personal computer. Our

high school had a small computer club back in 1974-75.

I really wasn’t even aware that it existed until

much later when I thumbed through my old yearbooks.

While I was still in high school, my older brother

went to a technical school. He learned how to repair

computers. I was fascinated that he was able to

fix those gigantic gadgets with relative ease. He

seemed to know everything (more…)

Computer Software – the Core of the Computer

Computer hardware and software are two sides of the same coin. Computer hardware cannot function if it doesn’t have the necessary software to operate it. It will be just a piece of junk without the support of the required software. Computer Software is of 3 types:

  • System software
  • Programming software
  • Application Software

System Software helps in running the computer hardware and computer system. It helps to shield the programmer to a great extent from the details of the particular computer hardware or system being used, especially memory and other accessory devices like printers, readers, communications, displays, keyboards, displays,

Programming Software provides tools to assist a programmer to write computer programs and software using specialised language called programming language. These tools are merged by integrated development environment (IDE) and a programmer may not need to type multiple commands for compiling, debugging, tracing etc., because the IDE usually has an advance Graphical User Interface or GUI. Graphical User Interface acts as an interface between the computer and the user.

Application Software allows the user to carry out one or more specific tasks which are (more…)
