Getting the Right Computer Software

Computer software is a vast term used to describe a collection of computer programmes, procedures and documentation that all perform tasks on a computer system. Computer software is the applications that we use on our computers such as office programmes and even windows itself. Computer software is any programme that we load onto and install on our computers.

Computer software is usually brought in CD format and is then installed onto our computers from this. Any new programmes etc that you buy for your computer can be classed as a form of software. Without software you wouldn’t get very far with the use of your computer.

When software is placed or opened on your computer it is loaded into the RAM and executed through the central processing unit (CPU) it is then available for you to use.

Software comes in three main types, the first being system software. This helps to run your computer hardware as well as your computer system. The second is programming software. This provides tools to assist programmers in writing computer programmes, such as text editors, compliers, interpreters and linkers. The last form of software is application software. This allows end users (more…)

What is Computer Hardware?

Computer hardware is the physical components of a computer, whereas the data and computer files are referred to as the computer software. The computer hardware is called this because it is not often or easily changed, unlike the software, which is updated and changed frequently. Home computers usually consists of several hardware components, including the motherboard, which holds the central processing unit, and the RAM. Personal computers also consist of power supply, which holds a transformer, fan and voltage control, as well as video display, computer device controllers, which connect to things such as scanners
Or printers. You’re computer hardware also consists of the CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, floppy and hard disk drives, a sound card and a modem for online dial up connections.

Hardware also consists of several independent pieces, which include the keyboard, the mouse, gaming devices such as joysticks, web cameras, scanners, printers and speakers. These are the parts of the computer hardware that you are probably more familiar with. Computer hardware is designed with performance in mind, but also focuses around weight, appearance, size, reliability and power consumption.

Computer Hardware continues to evolve at an exponential (more…)

Introduction to Computer Hardware

Computer hardware includes the computer itself and all devices that are connected to it. The actual CPU – or central processing unit – is the actual brain of the computer and determines both how fast and how well the computer will function. This also is an indication of how much RAM – or random access memory – the computer has.

The CPU and mother board are enclosed inside the computer case. All peripheral devices plug into the computer through ports in the mother board in order to be able to share data. The case also has many ports to attach peripheral devices to the computer. These peripheral devices can include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

The monitor allows the user to ‘see’ what they are doing on the computer. It is considered an ‘output’ device. There is also some sort of graphics card installed in the computer to allow it to print the graphics onto the monitor. This is because the computer outputs information onto the screen.

The Printer is also an output device. When the user asks the computer to print a file, it outputs that file to the (more…)

Shutdown Day: Can you go without your computer for a day?

In this century, computer is being used as the most powerful tool for developing the world. Since the first computer was invented in 1937 by Dr. John V. Atanasoff and Clifford Berry, computer had played an important role in finance and military. After some decade, computer have become more and more modern, they are more powerful, more intelligent, faster and much smaller than ever. Huge computers are step by step replacing smaller computers which

are known as wearable computer. Wearable computer has been familiar with a large number of people and applied to many areas such as behavioural modelling, health monitoring system, information technology and media development .However, not many people can define what a wearable computer, how it looks like and what advantages it has .etc This article will provide some basic knowledge around wearable computer for reader to get used to this high tech production.

What is wearable computer?

First of all, it is certain that wearable computer is a very individual computer, and users can wear it as piece of clothing. Wearable computer appears in many types for different functions. It may be a communicate device, a recorder or reference device. One powerful respect of wearable computer is that (more…)

Introduction to computer hardware – Part 6

All of the parts of the computer you can see and touch are called “hardware”. This is contrasted to software which are the programs and instructions that make the hardware do all it’s magic.

Computer hardware is of four basic types; input, output, storage and processing. Input devices are what you use to communicate with the computer by entering information or instructions. Output devices are used to get information (or data) out of the computer. Storage devices are what the data is kept on. Processing devices are those parts of the computer that do all of the work.

Examples of input devices are your keyboard and mouse. When you type on the keyboard the instructions and information are input into the computer for processing or storage. Using a mouse to point at something on the screen and then click is another way of inputting instructions. Scanners are input devices for collecting images.

Output devices are how we receive the results of what we have the computer do. Your monitor is an output device. Everything on the monitor is a picture that is drawn from information and instructions inside the computer. Even the letters and words we read on the computer are output (more…)
